Monday Mural: in the spirit of a connected community

This is a new mural on the back of a building that faces the Nimitz freeway near the 23rd Avenue on ramp.   I noticed it only a few weeks ago and it took me a while to figure out how to access it.  It's not that easy to do when you're driving 65 mph!  It is painted by J. Medlin who says it was inspired by the East Oakland Boxing Association and Carrie's Touch which supports African-American women with breast cancer.

If you like murals or have a mural you'd like to post, this meme's for you.  Just follow the Linky steps below.  You get to decide what constitutes a mural.  Be sure to link back to this blog and visit your fellow posters.

  1. This mural is very nice, I like the round shapes and that it's only three different colors. Thanks again for hosting!

  2. Finally, I get to post on your meme, Carolyn. Thank you so much for hosting.

Similar comment to Nellie. I love the flowing curves, and the interconnectedness. I also like that particular combination of three colours. I guess going at speed along a freeway, it is not easy to take in all that a mural has to offer. I am so glad you worked out how to get a closer look.

  7. The three colour palette is nice. I saw them as dancing and for some reason I was thinking 'jazz'. But that may be way off if it was inspired by a boxing assoc.

Love all these curvy lines the artist used. Great silhouette feel. Thanks for hosting MM.
